General First aid

+ CPR / AED

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR is a lifesaving medical procedure that can be performed on someone who is in cardiac arrest. The process assists the heart to pump blood around the body when their heart can’t on its own. Carrying out CPR combines both chest compressions and breaths, this procedure can save a life within seconds.

Automated External Debrillator (AED)

An AED is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest. This is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. AEDs are safe and effective when used by laypeople, including if they have had minimal or no training. AEDs may make it possible to defibrillate many minutes before professional help arrives. CPR providers should continue CPR with minimal interruption to chest compressions both while attaching an AED and during its use.

Course modules:

  • How to assess the collapsed victim
  • How to perform chest compression and rescues breathing
  • How to operate an automated external defibrillator safely
  • How to place an unconscious breathing victim in the recovery position
